Transcription

Transcription can be a daunting task, however once again Warren has made this process seem less troublesome. I love the suggestion of breaking down easier parts of the song first instead of "biting off more than you can chew".

"Rome wasn't built in a day".... Learning to transcribe will take patience and persistence!

It was most rewarding to go through the three lessons on how to transcribe a song. I'm looking forward to practicing this skill. The six-step procedure that Warren gives us will be extremely helpful. Also, I see that I will need to be more intentional and determined to proceed to the intermediate and advanced levels using the ear-training app.

A great skill to have

I'm enjoying courses like these that I can apply right away. I thought I'd have to get a lot more adept at piano to acquire this skill, but Warren teaches in such a way that it's easy, if you take one step at a time.

Great tips for learning to transcribe songs

I really like your explanations, Warren. You are clear and very sequential in your teaching style. I also like the way you encourage us by referring back to when you were learning these skills. Thank you. I have done a little transcribing in the past, but this encourages me to make it a weekly habit and expand my ability in this area.

Listening for the bass line.

Listening for that bass line is key to getting the transcription closer to the actual recording. It determines how the song moves through the progression. I'm going to purchase a better set of earphones. Thanks great lesson. I always wondered how you determined whether to add a minor 7th or when to add a major 9th to chords.

Fantastic

Transcriptions have always been challenging for me. There are so many fantastic tips and ideas here that make transcribing much easier. This might be, in my opinion, the most helpful and useful video in the entire series because of the importance of playing by ear in the Gospel style and tradition.

Love, Love LOVE THIS CLUB!!!!!

As I broaden my skills and ear through the Transcription Club, I am also learning other rules mentioned in other videos. Transcription has always helped me learn songs, but now that I am in the club, I know my ear will be even sharper - because I can see extensions and NAME THE CHORD now! So excited to continue this aspect of music!

The Only Course I've Ever Seen on Transcription

Very Thoughtful Course about learning the "magic" of transcription. As you know Warren, this is an area close to my heart. It was good to see your step-by-step method as it plays out in your mind. I was glad you used a fresh song and not one from our transcription club. I will continue to use this method until I know it by heart (and it makes me some money lol).
