Building on the chords and voicing vocabulary of the 12-Week Progression Practice and the Seventh Chords 12- weeks Progression Regimen course, Soul Chords focuses solely on mastery of the ninth chords.
Major 9th, Minor 9th, and the Dominant 9th chords – This course teaches you how to voice these chords in both Open-voicing and Cluster-voicing positions using popular progressions.
These progressions are; (I, vi, ii, V) – (vi, IV, ii, V) – ( iii, VI, II, V) – (V, ii, vi, IV) – ( ii, iii, IV, vi) and (IV, V, III, II). And another added beauty is that these progressions and voicings are cycled through all 12 keys using the cycle of 4ths concept.
If you desire to achieve the rich, soulful sound heard in Jazz, R&B, and Modern Gospel, look no further; this course will get you there.

IMO, the strength and value of pianolessonwithwarren.com is the structured learning that builds on a solid foundation to more advanced skills, technique, and knowledge. Soul chords is one more example of that solid teaching. I used to be hesitant to play any extended chords - I stuck with seventh chords -- this course is helping me stretch those wings to a higher level of playing.
I Love the Progressions in every key! I'm glad Istarted on another 9th chord lesson that Warren emphasized the make up of 9th chords. (from the 5th of the chord, play the second triad in that key) I can sort of understand the 2dary dominant usage, although I don't fully understand when and why to use them, the progressions are helping me to understand! Thank You Warren!
I now have the knowledge that I didn’t have before:”to distinguish between the minor and major 9th chords”! This course has changed my playing and took me to the next level from beginner to intermediate/advanced Thanks so much Mr Warren!
This course was an excellent way to continue my learning after completing the sevenths progression course. Warren made it easy to follow along and learn all the voicings for these beautiful progressions. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to become more comfortable with playing sevenths and ninths. Thanks, Warren!!
this course really brings the use of the 9th chords home.
