Fat Chords – How To Voice 9th, 11th, & 13th Chords

If you aspire to play Gospel music just like how you hear it on the radio, you have to be able to effectively voice 9th, 11th and 13th chords in all 12 keys.

“Fat Chords” is a loose term we use in the Gospel music world to describe those rich, luscious, big-sounding chords – but what we’re describing are extended chords – 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths.

In this course, you will learn all about these extended chords and how to voice them in various popular progressions, in all 12 keys. With this course, you will dramatically improve your chords and progressions to sound “fat” just like the Gospel recordings.

Fat chords

I am still learning, but I am getting to hear and experiment the different sounds when playing my favorite songs. It’s cool to hear it when you are playing.

Fat Learning

I elected to subscribe to Warren's website because of the thoroughness and logical progression of his courses. You learn the principles and how to apply them to all 12 keys. To make a play on Warren's words from the title of his course on "color chords", - 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths, I think of his approach as ""Fat learning". -Susan Baar 78 year old beginner
